What is CBD?
Hemp has over 400 organic ingredients. A large number of these are so-called phyto cannabinoids and terpenes. Cannabidiol (CBD) is the second most common cannabinoid in hemp plants after tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). In contrast to the use of THC, the use of CBD has no exhilarating effect.
Although the substance has been known since the 1940s, the effects of CBD on the human endocannabinoid system have only been investigated for a few years – with increasing tendency. Thus, PubMed, the online database of the US National Institutes of Health currently lists more than 1,450 documents on CBD. Medical research focuses on the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects attributed to CBD.
Research findings already made today suggest that the use of CBD generally has a positive effect on the body’s endocannabinoid system. While the specific effects of CBD are still the subject of intense research, it is widely recognized that the use in isolated form, for example purified or synthetically produced cannabidiol, reduces the positive effects.
Natural extractions of CBD will strengthen the positive effects. Scientists call this an entourage effect: the terpene remaining in the natural extract and other phyto cannabinoids obviously influence and intensify the effect of CBD.
The CBD in the OSIRIS-CBD Aroma Care products is obtained with the gentle CO2 extraction process. The entire ingredients (phyto cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils) are retained.
